EDGE-CORE 帶來全新高效能的 Chassis switch，提供 Layer 3 core switch功能，並支援 IPv6 的專業級型號，兩個型號分別支援 10個(ES4710BD)及 4個(ES4704BD) module slots，可按不同環境的需要分配 modules 的組合，系列可安裝主副兩組 management modules 及多樣化的 network interface modules，提供 10G XFP、SFP、Gigabit 及 10/100 多種傳輸介面選擇；Chassis switch系列同時支援後備電源及散熱風扇，確保整個系統能夠連續運作。Chassis switch 採用 hot swappable 設計，系統運作時管理人員仍可直接安裝，抽取或轉換 modules，期間不干擾系統的正常操作。SMC ES4700BD系列為政府部門、企業、大學等提供理想的 core layer 網絡層面的選擇。
